Seven top drum corps from across the nation will descend on Wantland Stadium at The University of Central Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m., July 20 for the Drum Corps International (DCI) Central Oklahoma Show, including the widely acclaimed
Blue Devils from Concord, Calif., who hold the record for the most DCI World Championship titles.

The show is a part of the DCI Summer Music Games Tour and will feature competitive drum and bugle corps, made up of high school and college students from around the world, performing a dynamic, choreographed musical experience.

UCO is one of almost three-dozen locations chosen for the Summer Music Games Tour, and will be revisited each year by the DCI.

“There’s a reason they call these performances, ‘Music in Motion,'” said David Hanan, Central’s assistant director of bands.

“These drum corps execute difficult, precise, lightning fast formations all while playing music. It is pure artistry and great entertainment for the whole family.”

DCI bills itself as “marching music’s major league,” with more than 400,000 people attending their live drum corps events each summer.

Joining the Blue Devils will be the Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Ill., a Drum Corps International World Championship Division I finalist every year since 1974; The Troopers from Casper, Wyo.; The Glassman from Toledo, Ohio; The Blue Stars from Lacrosse, Wis.; Spirit from Atlanta, Ga.; and Legends from Kalamazoo, Mich.

Single general admission tickets purchased in advance are $15, reserved seats are $20 and chair back special reserved seats are $25. Group rates are available. Purchase tickets in advance at www.dci.org/tickets. Advance ticket orders end July 13.

Tickets are also available the day of the show but prices increase $3 per ticket. Proceeds from ticket sales will support band scholarships at UCO.
